This session will cover current hot topics in long term care from an IDPH perspective. IDPH Division Chief of Long Term Care Field Operations Jonathan Harwood will be presenting. He will address pertinent issues in the sector and be on hand for questions. 

Presenter: Jonathan Harwood, MSN, RN | IDPH Division Chief – Long Term Care Field Operations

Jonathan Harwood is a healthcare leader with more than a decade of experience in public health administration, regulatory oversight, and clinical nursing practice. He has served with the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) for 11 years, demonstrating progressive leadership across surveillance, supervision, and executive-level field operations. Jonathan currently serves as the Interim Bureau Chief for Long Term Care within the Office of Health Care Regulation.

Jonathan began his career with IDPH as a Health Facilities Surveillance Nurse in the Peoria area, where he was responsible for regulatory oversight and compliance monitoring of healthcare facilities. He later advanced to a Field Supervisor position. Then in 2022, he was appointed Division Chief for Long Term Care Field Operations. In this capacity, Jonathan oversees the administration, operations, and strategic direction of long term care field staff, including those responsible for surveying long term care homes, intermediate care facilities, and specialized mental health rehabilitation facilities. He was recently appointed to the Interim Bureau Chief of Long Term Care role.

Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Bradley University and a Master of Science in Nursing from Saint Xavier University, with a focus on Clinical Leadership.
